Potluck anyone?

Scott and I were thinking about throwing together a potluck for next week.  Tuesday seems to be the only day we’re avaialble.  Anyone interested?  Any ideas on a good park with picnic tables in Ballard to gather?

Maybe it’s time for some protein…and potassium?

I had another lovely time at the Wallingford Farmers Market today, taking my canvas totes and re-using the plastic produce bags from last week. Organic potatoes, green beans, cucumber, broccoli from Summer Run Farm; Spanish […]

Whatchoo Readin?

Hey, is anyone out there reading Plenty? I started it yesterday and I’m loving it… anyone interested in starting a book club?

CSA’s are a good option for us

We are a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 kids.   We are busy, but still enjoy sitting down to a meal together.  We just don’t have too much time to shop and cook.  Being more intentional about eating locally produced food has evolved over the past 2-3 months for us.  So, this challenge  came […]

Shopping whilst hungry is a bad idea

Shopping with a growling stomach is bad enough, but trying to restrict myself to 100 miles… argh!!
Random things I miss: Nutella, corn chips, olives, yogurt (need to track this down at a farmers market!), good fruit juice (I eschew sugar water, e.g., cola)
I missed last Sunday’s Ballard Farmers Market, because I was on a personal […]

broke down

I broke down today in front of the Ballard Market at lunch time. I bought a loaf of sliced bread. So I made it about 6 days. We have been cheating a bit here and there (spice, oil, couple beers), but this is the first real break with intention. […]

Add another resource for meat and dairy

I would also add Mt. Townsend Creamery to the list of local cheese producers.  They are in Port Townsend, WA.

100 mile boundary

It seems that the whole debate about this project that fulvio mentioned previously (i don’t know how to ping) is just one of semantics.  Is anyone debating the merit of buying more locally produced food?  Our  participation in the “100 mile diet” (or 150mi, or WA or PNW for some) is simply a project to learn about […]

Saved by Beecher’s

My first 4 days of the diet have been more famine than feast. Someone on the PI talkback page felt misled by the name - “this isn’t actually a diet“. Oh, yes it is! For the record, my body weight at the end of July was 163 lbs. We’ll see where […]
