Cheese Strata

12 slices locally baked bread (potato or mixed grains)
1 cube local butter
1 lb. local cheddar cheese (e.g. Beechers, River Valley Ranch, etc.)
7 local eggs
4 C local 2% milk
1 t dry mustard
1/2 t salt
1 T Worcestershire sauce (optional)
(other options: 1 green pepper chopped; 1 C diced ham, 1/3 C green onion)

Make 6 cheese sandwiches. Butter the outsides of the sandwiches. Cut into quarters &
lay out on a 9?x13? pan. Beat together reamining ingreadients. Pour over sandwich quarters &
let sit for 1 hour or overnight in fridge. Bake 1 hr @ 325F. Till puff up like a souffle
& browned on top. (It will collapse after removing from oven.) Serves 8-10.
Can halve recipe using 4-5 eggs, 2 C milk for an 8?x8? pan.
